English Perfumer Penhaligon’s has recently launched No. 33, its 145th anniversary fragrance for men. No.33 gets its name from No.33 St. James Street, the location where William Penhaligon opened his first barber shop in London in 1870, selling fragrances and grooming preparations for gentlemen.

 

The signature No.33 Eau de Cologne, is complimented by a new No.33 Grooming Range. This builds on Penhaligon’s long standing authority in grooming, adding modern skincare products to compliment a man’s routine beyond traditional shaving items.

The Eau de Cologne is based around an aromatic composition of lavender, which has been an essential component of numerous Penhaligon’s scents since 1870. Other scents that punctuate this masculine fragrance are Top Notes of Bergamot, Orange and Coriander, Heart Notes of Violet, Black Pepper, Ginger and Jasmine and Base Notes of Amber, Musk and Tobacco among others.

In Malta, Penhaligon’s No.33 was launched at an event hosted by Franks at the Radisson Blu, St. Julians’ newly refurbished business lounge.  The headiness of scents featured strongly at the event with a signature cocktail that replicated some of the key notes and a beautiful display of some of the key ingredients that give No.33 its distinctive fragrance.

Guests were treated to a sniff of the Eau de Cologne from the sample display, and I couldn’t get enough of it. The smell reminded me of a cosy winter’s day, thick knitted jumpers, dark wood panelling and a roaring fire after a walk in the blustery wind.
