See Malta’s Rural Riches As We Take You Off The Beaten Track

Maltese Countryside 1

The island of Malta is mainly known for its sun and sea; however, very few people realise, that the Island also has a green side to it…

Between the months of November to April you’ll find the patchwork of browns and beiges that makes up the Maltese countryside in the summer months changes into a green and lush landscape. Fields are full of vegetables and waysides are carpeted with fennel, clover, wild iris, myrtle and much more.

Away from the resorts and urban areas of central Malta, there is a surprising amount of countryside to enjoy. You may be surprised to learn that only around one-fifth of the Maltese Islands is urbanised. Farmers often use the traditional labour-intensive methods of the past. Village life still centres around the agricultural and fishing seasons.

The Islands offer some of the most stunning views anywhere in the Mediterranean. Which view would you prefer?  – dramatic cliffs plunging into waves, the rocky scrub-land or hidden, lush valleys? We can drive you through the entire spectrum.

Along the countryside route, you’ll also come across mysterious, prehistoric sites, cave chapels and secluded palaces of the Knights.

Drive through the island’s beautiful countryside in a vintage war jeep with your own private driver and guide… Explore the sights and sounds that this tranquil part of the island has to offer…

Walk through valleys, take shots of the beautiful scenery and breathe in the fresh air and smells of Malta’s flora.

Following the narrow lanes of the countryside, you will be escorted to a private home for lunch. Dine in an old farmhouse in the middle of a majestic valley, lunch is cooked and served by a renowned Maltese chef, famous for her local tasty cuisine full of Maltese flavours… You could also opt to enjoy a cooking lesson by the chef or simply watch her cook up her favourite dishes. Stuffed Marrows, Stewed Rabbit, Pulled Pork amongst many other delicacies!  Lunch on her terrace with panoramic valley views or in her cosy dining room with an open wood fire- the weather will decide!

After this long lunch, you could consider an optional olive oil tasting experience in a family run olive grove.
