Chopard Sponsors the Malta Classic for the Fourth Consecutive Year

Winner to Receive a Mille Miglia Chronograph

For the fourth consecutive year, Chopard shall sponsor the Malta Classic Grand Prix by Chopard, a celebration of speed and style hosted in Mdina this October 89th. Chopard and the Malta Classic are a natural fit, as Chopard combines power, precision and performance to create watches of timeless nature—much like the classic cars that they honor. Chopard is exclusively available at Edwards Lowell Boutiques in Valletta and St Julians.

On Saturday, 8th October, timed drives determine the starting order of Sunday’s grid. On Sunday, 9th October the thrilling races begin, as the unforgiving nature of the challenging Mdina circuit brings out the very best performances by car and driver. The winner of Sunday’s races will receive a Mille Miglia Chronograph.

As official timekeeper of the world’s most famous regularity race for classic cars, Chopard has created the Mille Miglia Chronograph selfwinding watch in stainless steel. Inspired by the beauty of classic cars, its elegant curves, black dial inspired by vintage car dashboards and chronometercertified “engine” express a perfect pairing of automobile design and mechanical watchmaking.

Competing to win the Mille Miglia Chronograph are more than 60 cars, amongst them several local and foreign entries including a 1960 Ferrari 250 GTO SWB, a 1953 Alfa 1900c Sprint by Touring, a 1935 Talbot PL4, a 1954 Jaguar XK150, a 1960 Triumph TR3 A, a 1935 BSA Scout, a 1938 Alvis 12/70 Special, a 1934 Riley TT Sprite, a 1927 Chevrolet Special, a 1963 Porsche 356 Coupe and a 1974 Mini Marcos.

Besides thrilling races and a magnificent setting, new attractions at the 2016 Malta Classic promise to attract greater crowds than ever to this prestigious annual event. These include a retro entertainment stage, vintage food trucks, and a car park reserved for classic car owners. A new exhibition space in the Mdina Ditch will also offer entertainment and refreshment for spectators between races.
