Be “hippie chic” this summer

BelsBlogs - MargoDeVidal - Kimono top & belt

This week I happened to pay a visit to Margo de Vidal, one of the new fashion designers featured at this year’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.  I was curious to find out what Margo’s hot favourite looks for this summer are.

The laid back nature of our island life in Malta really lends itself to the “hippie chic” look that is also resonant with Margo’s current collection. Last summer’s brighter colour palette has given way to beautiful muted earth tones.  Kaftans, flowing trousers and skirts are the epitome of hippie. But what turns it into hippie chic? The use of beautiful fabrics such as silks and rich patterned crepes, the impeccable execution of contemporary tie dye and combining rustic materials with gold accents all bring a real sophistication to this look.

Accessorising is also a key trick to getting the right look for any season. Mixing and matching the simplest outfit with some great accessories can transform it from day to night, informal to formal. This summer take a simple kimono style dress and pair it with the right accessories to take it effortlessly from beach to bar. A beautiful leather belt, a chunky necklace and the right bag can all turn a very simple outfit into a true summer stunner.

Here are some of the accessories that Margo is particularly keen on for this summer.
