My picks of women’s fashion trends for summer 2016

I love the summer. The blue sky, holidays, fresh juices, roses on the terrace under the shade of the trees: And of course, the fashion trends. This season, the 2016 fashion trends already look perfect. There are a few items that have transited over from last year. There are also some classics like the white dress or jumpsuit that have become true fashion essentials as well as some great new items for this summer.

Summer 2016  fashion looks like a romantic movie. Soft colors, fluid and light materials, long dresses, lace and embroidery: Romanticism invites itself in our wardrobes. It also draws from the 80s and 90s with the return of high-cut shoulders.

The colours, materials and prints

The colours of the season are soft and light. Pink, yellow, green or blue, all in pastel hues, this is the perfect combo for a romantic season.

For printed materials, it’s the rebirth of lines. Thick, thin, colored, horizontal or vertical, they were found at Prada and Dior. Perfect for summer when you are tanned.  Ethnic prints are also a must-have this season. The floral print is still the dominant print for the summer season. Exotic prints remain a great favourite as seen during Kenzo or Paul & Joe shows.

 The Bardot top

American designers have made the Bardot top the must-have of this summer, from Prabal Gurung to Proenza Schouler by way of Preen by Thornton Bregrazzi and Chloe.

The smoking

Fuller, more casual : black or white smoking is one of the key pieces of our evenings this summer. Minimalist at Jason Wu, ultra- chic at Givenchy, custom embroidered patch at Dolce & Gabbana. There is something to suit everyone.

The gypsy dress

Long and flowery, it may well become an indispensable mode. The white dress is, too, a classic summer dress. Short or long , transparent or embroidered, the white dress is the perfect piece to wear when you’re tanned.

The bomber

Modernised in recent seasons, the bomber is more present than ever this summer. Feminized at Victoria Beckham and Boss, it remains very male among most designers like Anthony Vaccarello for Versus Versace and Rag & Bone.

The kimono

Spotted at Diane Von Furstenberg, Martin Margiela and Jonathan Saunders shows, the kimono returns this summer, both long and short, but focused with a thin belt to structure the silhouette.

Shoes and fashion accessories

Laced, with sequins, espadrilles are everywhere. The sandals and heeled sandals are ultra strappy around the leg or ankle.

For bags, the bucket bag or beach bag takes first place on the podium for bag trends this summer 2016.
