Rosita brings a real Joie de Vivre to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Malta

Hailing from Lithuania, Rosita is a true artist. Originally focusing on hand painted silk and satin scarves, Rosita has now moved into dress design combined with the centuries-old art of silk painting. Her fabric designs are all inspired by the colours and shapes found in nature.

Each piece starts life as a single length of white silk which Rosita dyes and paints using various techniques to create depth and 3D effects. All the dyes used in her pieces are special formulas that prevent colour running during the washing process.

The collection is made up of tops, dresses, kaftans, sarongs, scarves and even ties for men.

The first thing that I noticed about the creations is just how vibrant and striking the colour palette is. In fact, her show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Malta was a real cornucopia of colour. The eventing breeze gave each piece movement, that truly brought the silk creations to life.

The name of the collection, Joie de Vivre, is totally apt. The show opened with a collection of lovely tops that were equally at home paired with jeans, and a pair of wedges as they would be with a pencil skirt and heels.  Three particular favourites of mine were those in the images below. The colour combinations and varied designs give each piece a totally distinct look and feel.

Floaty, wide sleeves on all the pieces create a very romantic look that is feminine and sophisticated.

The collection also contains a number of dresses and kaftans, some short but most in maxi length. I especially liked a green kaftan embellished with dragonfly designs and a pink off the shoulder dress that has a Greek goddess look combined with a sexy red carpet style.

The collection also contains something for the boys, with sarongs and relaxed silk ties for the man with a creative flair. Sarongs abound also for women. The runway show also showcased some of Rosita’s scarves utilised as tops for a cool sexy summer look.

I have to admit I am an instant fan and will be looking out for more of this creative designer’s work in future.
