The Maltese Islands are a cornucopia of natural harbours, bays, sheltered creeks, cliffs, reefs and wrecks. Malta is a dream destination for scuba diving and underwater photography with some of the clearest and bluest waters in the world. Here marine life exists in a healthy ecosystem and creates a colourful backdrop to the seabed and reefs. Malta has definitely put itself on the map as one of the hottest destinations for diving in the Mediterranean, and possibly even the world. But why not consider a diving trip with a difference?

Take the luxury approach to your diving trip and organise a private diving charter with leading luxury yacht charters provider Azure Ultra. Explore Malta’s amazing waters from the comfort of an iconic Sunseeker yacht, offering you the complete Azure Ultra experience inclusive of full VIP service on board.

Prior to your charter you have the possibility to discuss which dive sites to visit with Azure Ultra’s experienced captain, who will make sure you get to witness the island’s most spectacular seascapes and healthy marine life – which includes barracudas, jacks, bream, and sometimes even John Dory and seahorses.

Joined by a professional steward/ess, your captain will cater for all requirements and ensure a memorable on-board experience for you and your diving companions from start to finish. This also means that while you enjoy the underwater caverns and formations, the yacht crew will cater for snacks, lunches and refreshments in between dives.

With a private boat charter you will be able to explore the infinite variety of the Mediterranean underwater world. We’ve listed some of the best known dive sites ranging from labyrinthine caves to reefs and wartime wrecks.

Santa Marija Caves – Comino: Santa Marija Caves stand among the most renowned dive sites around the Maltese Islands. Reachable only by boat, this shallow cave system has access to the surface for most of the dive. Large shoals of fish congregate in vast numbers at the entrance to these underwater caves.

Wied iż-Żurrieq – Malta: This location is a tourist mecca, with daily trips taken aboard small boats that go out to the network of caves found here. But exploring the caves underwater opens up a whole different world of walls and beautiful shallow valleys, offering a vast variety of dives. Among these, the Bell Cave is an absolute must-see. Wied iż-Żurrieq also offers you a good chance of spotting dolphins offshore as well as being home to the famous Um el Faroud wreck.

Um el Faroud – Wied iż-Żurrieq, Malta: Sunk in 1998 after a gas explosion during the cleaning process, this 120-metre-long oil tanker is home to one of the best dives in Malta and was rated among the top 10 dives in the Mediterranean by Diver magazine. Winter storms have split the vessel in two sections, and there are plenty of opportunities to explore inside her hull.
