Exploring the Great Outdoors – The Adventurous Way!!!

Climbing 3

Malta’s Winter months boast mild temperatures, making our island the ideal playground for outdoor sports on dry days!

Enjoying 300 days of sun each year and surrounded by the warm azure waters of the Mediterranean, Malta is an ideal location for rock climbing and abseiling. With a south coastline that is mostly cliff with deep-cut valleys running down to the sea, the entire landscape seems to be designed as a rock climber’s dream. The exposed coralline limestone makes for fantastic rock formations that offer slabs, walls and overhangs to delight beginners and expert climbers alike.

With over 1300 climbing routes to choose from coupled with good weather throughout most of the year, the Maltese Islands are becoming a climber’s paradise.

Major climbing areas in Malta include: Wied Babu, ix-Xaqqa, Ghar Lapsi and Victoria Lines. In Gozo the major areas are Mgarr ix-Xini, Wied il-Mielah and near Sopu Tower, San Blas area. Most locations have a good mix of sport & traditional climbing in easier and harder climbs.

So fancy a private climbing adventure?

Colours of Malta uses experienced guides who will take you climbing and abseiling in the most spectacular locations and make sure that you have a safe and fun experience.  All levels are welcome, from complete beginners to experienced climbers.

Rock Climbing options – We can provide all types of rock climbing experiences in Malta: sport climbing (over 500 routes), traditional climbing (over 1,000 routes), bouldering, deep water soloing and sea level traversing including a number of bolted Multi-pitch routes and a good variety of traditional multi pitch.

Abseiling – With steep cliffs, slabs and crevasses we take you to the most spectacular places to abseil in Malta.

With your toes inches away from the steep decline and the rope disappearing down below, adrenaline pumps through you. You see that your hands are a bit sweaty with nerves, so you exhale, relax, and commence your descent. The nervous excitement turns into euphoria as you overcome your initial fears and take in the stunning surroundings and the overwhelming feeling of control and empowerment. The longest abseil is over 75m all the way to a small beach below…amazing…but of course you can start you off on shorter routes to help you gain confidence and essential skills if you are an inexperienced abseiler.

Fresh air, breath-taking views, the ultimate adrenaline rush and great sporting satisfaction – Leave all the details and planning in the very capable hands of the experts at Colours of Malta!!
